Nicotinamide riboside
Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a pyridine nucleoside made of nicotinamide joined to ribose, a form of vitamin B3. The ingredient in trade is almost always nicotinamide riboside chloride, a crystalline salt made by chemical synthesis and purified by crystallization. Brands buy it as a white to off-white powder for capsules, drink mixes and fortified foods, and supply has been concentrated among a small number of patent-holding producers and their licensees.
Suppliers sell different products under the same name. Specify the one you need.
The crystalline chloride salt, the standard commercial form, sold at high purity.
NR chloride with a declared flow agent or larger particle size for encapsulation and tableting.
NR pre-blended with other ingredients, such as pterostilbene or B vitamins, at a stated NR content.
Compare each result with your own specification when the lot arrives.
Store NR chloride sealed in a cool, dry place, ideally with desiccant, and follow any refrigeration instruction on the supplier's specification. Exposure to humidity and heat converts it to nicotinamide, so minimize time open on the production floor. Shelf life is set by the supplier and confirmed by retesting assay and nicotinamide.
Record assay, water and free nicotinamide for each lot. Rotate stock first-expired, first-out and retest older lots before use in finished products with a label claim.

GRN 635, for nicotinamide riboside chloride from ChromaDex as a source of vitamin B3 in certain beverages, bars, gum and chews, closed in August 2016 with FDA having no questions.

Suppliers are in alphabetical order and none pays to appear. Each claim is checked against the supplier’s own website on the date shown. Ask for the specification sheet and a recent COA before you order, and confirm details with the supplier.
Common forms include nicotinamide riboside chloride, granulated or flow-aid grades and premixes and combinations. Ask each supplier for the specification sheet of the exact grade they quote.
Expect assay (HPLC), nicotinamide and related substances, water (Karl Fischer), identity, residual solvents and heavy metals and microbiology, each with its method, specification and result for that lot.
