- Identity
- HPTLC fingerprint against a reference standard to confirm Bacopa monnieri, which is sometimes confused with Centella asiatica because both are sold as brahmi.
- Bacoside assay
- Bacosides by HPLC, reported as named bacosides or as a total. UV-Vis results run higher than HPLC and are not interchangeable, so the COA must state the method.
- Heavy metals
- Lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury by ICP-MS against the buyer's limits and any Prop 65 exposure targets.
- Microbiology
- Total plate count, yeast and mold, E. coli and Salmonella. Raw cut herb and powder carry more microbial load than extracts and may be steam treated.
- Pesticide residues
- Multi-residue screen by GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS, required for organic claims and commonly asked for on conventional lots.
- Heavy metals focus
- Bacopa grows in water and soil that can carry lead, arsenic and cadmium, so ICP-MS results on every lot need checking against your limits, not only a pass statement.
