Pyridoxine hydrochloride
Pyridoxine hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of pyridoxine and the standard commercial form of vitamin B6. It is a white crystalline powder made entirely by chemical synthesis, typically by building the pyridine ring from an oxazole intermediate, then crystallized as the hydrochloride. It dissolves freely in water and is fairly stable, though light slowly degrades it, and brands buy it as fine powder, granular tableting grade or in vitamin premixes.
Suppliers sell different products under the same name. Specify the one you need.
Fine crystalline powder tested to pharmacopeia or Food Chemicals Codex monographs.
Granulated material that flows and compresses well in tablets.
Coated pyridoxine hydrochloride for taste masking or slower release in premixes.
Lower-cost grade for animal nutrition; not for human food or supplements.
Compare each result with your own specification when the lot arrives.
Keep pyridoxine hydrochloride in closed, light-proof containers in a cool, dry place, since light slowly degrades it. Suppliers set shelf life or a retest date, with assay as the usual retest check.
Record assay per lot and keep granular, coated and fine-powder grades as separate items. Rotate FEFO.

Suppliers are in alphabetical order and none pays to appear. Each claim is checked against the supplier’s own website on the date shown. Ask for the specification sheet and a recent COA before you order, and confirm details with the supplier.
Common forms include uSP / FCC / Ph. Eur. grade, granular or direct-compression grade, coated grade and feed grade. Ask each supplier for the specification sheet of the exact grade they quote.
Expect assay, identity, related substances, loss on drying and residue on ignition, heavy metals and microbiology, each with its method, specification and result for that lot.
