Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate
Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate is an anionic surfactant made by reacting lauric acid chloride (from coconut or palm kernel oil) with sarcosine (N-methylglycine) and neutralizing with sodium hydroxide. It foams well, is used in toothpastes, shampoos and body washes, and is common in sulfate-free formulas. Brands buy it as a roughly 30% aqueous solution or as a high-active powder.
Suppliers sell different products under the same name. Specify the one you need.
Aqueous solution in drums or totes for shampoos and washes.
Dry form for toothpastes, powders and solid bars.
Material made to compendial specifications for toothpaste use.
Coconut-derived grades approved for COSMOS or similar standards.
Compare each result with your own specification when the lot arrives.
Store liquid sarcosinate closed at moderate temperature, away from freezing, and keep powder sealed and dry. Shelf life follows the supplier's specification, with a retest of active matter, pH and micro for older liquid stock.
Record active matter, pH and salt for each lot. Do not combine with ingredients that can form nitrosamines, and keep the supplier's statement on nitrosamine controls with the lot file. Rotate FIFO.

Suppliers are in alphabetical order and none pays to appear. Each claim is checked against the supplier’s own website on the date shown. Ask for the specification sheet and a recent COA before you order, and confirm details with the supplier.
Common forms include liquid (about 30% active), powder (about 94% or more active), pharmaceutical or oral-care grade and natural-standard grades. Ask each supplier for the specification sheet of the exact grade they quote.
Expect active matter, free fatty acid, sodium chloride, pH, microbiology and heavy metals, each with its method, specification and result for that lot.
